Do Good Fences Make Good Neighbors?

Since the March 2020 elections, a Jewish-Arab alliance is considered crucial for the Jewish-Israeli left to challenge the longstanding right-wing government. Yet while some parts of the Zionist center-left understand the political and moral need for partnership, separation is still the guiding principle when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, even though the idea is almost diametrically opposed to the concept of partnership. The author introduces the historic background of separation discourse, which is deeply entrenched into Zionist thinking and explains how it has been applied in practice. Finally, the author outlines an alternative vision to the separation of Jews and Palestinians.
