In the framework of hbs Tel Aviv’s program “Masculinities in Israel”, our partners at Hameorer and Bar Ilan University hosted a first of its kind conference, launching a toolkit for local municipalities focusing on Masculinity-Conscious Municipal Policies. The conference, held on June 11th, 2026 was attended by key stakeholders in the fields of gender equality, local governance, social and community resilience, and education. The speakers at the conference included professionals in research, policy, welfare, and activism. Among the themes explored were issues related to the role of local authorities in creating community-adapted spaces and programs where boys, youths and men could break out of prescribed gender roles, and advance equality, and community wellbeing and resilience. Key municipal strategies were examined – such as visual representation of masculinity in municipal publications, elementary and high-school educators training, municipal childcare facilities and more.
