Rafael Fleischman

Rafael Fleischman was born and raised in Brazil and moved to Israel in 2013. He holds an MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technion and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Rafael works as a Transportation and Air Quality Engineer in the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection where he promotes regulation and policy to mitigate environmental impacts of the transportation sector in Israel, with an emphasis on reducing air pollution and GHG emissions. His main areas of actuation are: electric vehicles, CNG trucks, DPF retrofit diesel vehicles, rail emissions and vehicle emission standards and testing.

Previously, Rafael has worked in the Internal Combustion Engines laboratory in the Petrobras R&D center. He has also conducted research on biofuels for the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.

In 2014, he received the HIAS Israel award for academic excellence and contribution to society and the Rachel and Selim Benin award for academic excellence.
