Zipi Israeli is Head of the Public Opinion and National Security Program at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) and a lecturer at Tel Aviv University. Previously, she was a board member of the Association of Civil-Military Scholars in Israel as well as a member of the academic committee of the annual conference of the Association.

Dr. Israeli specializes in media and public opinion in national security; media and military; civil-military relations; national resilience; bereavement and casualties; and protest and national security. Previously, she managed research institutes in the Department of Political Studies at Bar Ilan University and served as a faculty member at Ariel University, Shenka, and the Academic College of Emek Yezreel.

Dr. Israeli earned her doctorate in Public Communication at Bar Ilan University. During her doctoral studies she received the prestigious President’s Scholarship for Exceptional Doctoral Students. Her research focused on the relations between a political-security establishment, protest groups and media in a low intensity conflict, using Israel in Lebanon (1985-2000) as a case study. She was awarded scholarships from the Fund for Encouraging Studies in the Field of Communications of the Second Authority for Television and Radio and her doctoral dissertation was awarded the Israel Security Prize from the Ihel Fund. Her work has been published in academic journals in Israel and abroad such as: Israel Studies Review; Res Militaris and Israel Affairs, and has been presented in Israeli and international academic conferences.
