Dr. Ofer Waldman
Head of Office
Born in Jerusalem, Ofer Waldman moved to Berlin as a member of Daniel Barenboim’s and Edward Said’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. After a career as a musician in various German and Israeli orchestras, he completed a joint Ph.D. in History and German Literature and published several literary and essayistic works.
Ofer worked as a writer and journalist for the German public radio and was awarded the 2021 German Radio Play Award. He has been active in a number of leading German and Israeli NGOs and cultural institutions and served as Chair of the New Israel Fund Germany. Since the summer of 2025, Ofer has been serving as Head of Office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Tel Aviv.
