Ayelet Baram-Tsabari
Professor at the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology

Baram-Tsabari is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and heads the “Applied Science Communication” research group. Baram-Tsabari’s training in science education (Ph.D., Weizmann Institute of Science) and science communication (Marie Curie fellowship, Cornell University) alongside her considerable experience as a journalist, editor, and a TV presenter (1999-2008) have together shaped her commitment to evidence-based practice and research in science communication and education.

Baram-Tsabari has founded the Israeli Science Communication Conference series and used her position as an elected member of the Israel Young Academy (2016-2020) to build a national infrastructure for science communication training for scientists. She was an elected member of the international PCST Network scientific committee (2016-2021).

Baram-Tsabari’s areas of interest are finding evidence for the usefulness of science education for non-scientistsidentifying non-scientist’s interests and needs in science and building on these authentic interests to communicate science in more meaningful and personally relevant ways; supporting scientists in communicating their science effectively, and developing learning goals and measurements for the outcomes of science communication trainings. 

Recently, she received the Higher Education Award for a Young Faculty Member for an exceptional contribution to society and the community in Israel from the Council of Higher Education (2021).
